Jianhao Ma [CV] [Website]
Jianhao is a PhD student in the IOE department at the University of Michigan. Before Joining IOE, he received two bachelor degrees in Industrial Engineering and Mathematics from Tsinghua University. Jianhao’s research interest lies in optimization and generalization of machine learning algorithms.
Geyu Liang [CV]
Geyu Liang is a PhD student in the IOE department at the University of Michigan. Prior to that, he received a bachelor degree on Math and Computer Science (double major) from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a master degree on Computational and Applied Math from University of Chicago. Broadly speaking, his research interest lies in design and analysis of algorithms in optimization and machine learning.
Aaresh Bhathena [CV]
Aaresh is a master’s student in the IOE department at the University of Michigan. Before joining IOE, he received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University. Aaresh’s research interest lies in optimization, statistics and areas of applied mathematics.
Guixian Chen [CV]
Guixian Chen is a PhD student in the IOE department at the University of Michigan. Before joining IOE, he received a bachelor degree in Mathematics from Peking University, and a master degree in Statistics from University of Michigan. Guixian’s research interest lies in the intersection of statistical theory, machine learning and optimization.
Alumni
Tong Xu [CV]
Tong Xu was a master student at Quantitative Finance and Risk Management program at the University of Michigan. Prior to that, he received his bachelor degree in Financial Engineering from East China Normal University. His research interest is in graphical model inference.
He is currently a PhD student at Northwestern University.
Gongyu Chen [CV]
Gongyu Chen was a master’s student in the IOE department at the University of Michigan. Prior to that, he received dual BSE degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan. His research interest is in federated learning of sparse graphical models.
He is currently a PhD student at UC Berkeley.
